Apple is discontinuing two products you have probably forgotten about: iBooks Writer and iTunes U. As of July 1st, iBooks Author will not be accessible to new users, and Apple plans to discontinue iTunes U at the end of 2021.
Existing iBooks Author Users will have access but it will be updated. Apple says it is working on a tool which will allow users to move content into Pages, and that should be ready soon.
iTunes U will soon be accessible to existing clients until the end of Apple, and the year is pointing users to services like Classroom and Schoolwork. For those content on iTunes U, Apple suggests transferring content to Apple Books or Apple Podcasts.
Neither of these changes are sudden, as we have not heard much about either app for many decades . Users who might be clinging to the apps have options to select from, since Apple’s other products select up where iBooks Writer and iTunes U leave off.
